It is becoming more frequent for international sports stars to purchase properties on Barbados with the sole intention of renting them out and not to use themselves.

Rooney has just done so at Royal Westmoreland the premiere golf resort on Barbados in the heart of St. James.

Is the pull of being a celebrity enough to rent one’s home? Does this mean other investors will lose out because clients want the experience of renting a celebrity’s home? Does a celebrity pay less than the general public? Or is this just a gimmick by the developer to sell more homes?
