Horse Racing

DATES: 5th November until 26th December

VENUE: the Garrison Savannah

The Barbados Turf Club, which regulates and promotes horse racing in Barbados organizes three seasons of racing per year which take place at the Garrison Savannah. The third Racing Season has begun and will continue through until the infamous boxing day race sponsored by Diamonds International & MontBlanc.

Barbados Food & Wine and Rum Festival 2011

DATES: From 18th November until 21st November

Join eight international chefs: Tom Colicchio, Bruno Loubet, Ming Tsai, Tom Brodi, Mark McEwan, Paul Yellin, Vitor Gomes and Marcus Samuelsson and seven Bajan chefs; Wine and spirits expert, Anthony Giglio; and Food & Wine and Rum ambassador Nilou Motamed in this year’s Barbados Food & Wine and Rum Festival 2011. Meet the chefs and learn about their cuisine, explore this year’s selected vintages with a master connoisseur and learn what’s in the perfect rum punch!

Nation Fun Walk and Fun Run 2011

DATE: 21st November

REGISTRATION: Register at Nation House and Sheraton Centre

The Nation Fun Walk and Fun Run attracts thousands of participants each year and encourages participants to walk for a cause. A portion of the registration fee from each participant will go directly to four selected organisations: The Barbados Cancer Society, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Diabetes Association of Barbados and The Barbados Olympic Association. This year’s Nation Fun Walk and Fun Run 10K event will begin and end at the Bay Street Esplanade; The Run beings at 5:45 AM and the Walk at 6:00 AM.

Virgin Holidays Surfer’s Bay Music Festival

DATES: 24th November to 30th November

VENUE: Surfer’s Bay in Silvers Sands

The Virgin Holidays Surfer’s Bay Music Festival combines a set of the UK’s up and coming artists with local and Caribbean bands. Among the featured acts this year are Charlie Simpson of Busted, reggae veteran Dawn Penn, The Martin Harley Band, JazzSteppa and New Rising as well as a collaboration from The Moo, the Muscle and the Clam! Other artists include young Barbadian vocalist Alex Mills and the Trinidadian group Jointpop. In addition, a new feature of the music festival this year will be a dance event with international DJ’s.

Barbados Independence Surf Festival

DATES: 25th November to 27th November

VENUE: Soup Bowl, Bathsheba

The Barbados Independence Surf Festival will comprise of two premium international competitions; The November Pro and the Soup Bowl Junior Pro. This surfing event will also include half-pipe demonstrations from local and regional skaters, the famous Independence Bikini Contest, live music, arts and crafts, local food and much more. Each year competitors from around the globe converge on the legendary Soup Bowl to go head to head against the best of Barbados. This professional event has boasted a cash prize purse of over $8,000 USD and attracted internationally regarded competitors such as Dean Randazzo and the legendary 10-time World Champion Kelly Slater.

Hennessy Artistry Show 2011

DATE: 3rd December

VENUE: Kensington Oval

The Hennessy Artistry Show 2011 is presented by FAS Entertainment and being held at the Kensington Oval. This event will feature popular artists such as Shabba Ranks, Tarrus Riley, Richie Spice and Buggy Nhakente. Other performers include Simon Pipe & Hennessy Deejay: Jon Doe, Lil Rick & DMZ , Monsta Piece Federation, Black Cat Sounds & Mikey Dread. This reggae event will be hosted by Peter Coppin. Early Bird tickets for general admission are $70 BBD and for VIP are $200 BBD.

Run Barbados Series

DATES: 2nd, 3rd and 4th December

Run Barbados Series includes the following events: Barbados Fun Mile, 10K and 3K Run, the Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K Run. This event series has become the most popular road running event in Barbados and has already attracted more than 500 registered runners to date, with 290 of these being International runners participating from 20 countries. Tennis Pon de rock 2011

DATES: 10th December and 11th December

VENUES: The Gymnasium & Sugar Hill

Tennis pon de rock 2011 is aimed at raising funds for the betterment of all Barbadian children, through sports – specifically tennis. The exhibition will be hosted over a three day period, giving spectators a chance to see some of the best tennis players, both male and female, playing great tennis live. SKREAM Barbados

DATE: 28th January 2012

VENUE: Limegrove Roof Top

SKREAM Barbados is an event being hosted by Radio Cassareep. SKREAM is one of most prominent producers in the world of dance music who has played an important role in the development of a new musical scene called DUBSTEP that started in the boroughs of Croydon, London (UK), but now spans the globe. Radio Cassareep is honored to welcome SKREAM to Barbados for an exclusive DJ set on the Limegrove Roof Top on January 28th, 2012 at 10PM. Join Radio Cassareep’s Facebook page to get hyped!
