SHOPPING
There are several shops located in the town center, including supermarkets, banks, pharmacies and several high end interior designer establishments. What is great about Speightstown is the traditional open air markets and the hucksters where fresh fruit and vegetables can be found in abundance. You are also likely to pass several local artisans plying their wares on the bustling streets.
EATING
Speightstown has a great range of restaurants which are within a 5 minute walk from White Sands condo. There is The Orange Street Grocer, where you can get great salads, stone baked pizza and a fine wine collection. A more local cuisine can be experienced at the Fisherman’s Pub or Wave Rider and Cassereep Cafe is just a little further down the road and has a varied menu, including their infamous curry roti. For finer dining, Mangoes by the Sea is an established restaurant that is located on the southern end of Speightstown. However, the PRC Bakery which is a minute walk away from White Sands is a piece of real Bajan nostalgia that bakes turn overs, jam puffs, lead pipes, salt bread buns, meat rolls and coconut rolls. They are open every day and everything is fresh and baked on site.
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS
White Sands is in a great location with all amenities within walking distance, so you do not necessarily need to hire a car. There is a bus stand nearby and taxis are available from any of the nearby hotels. That said, a car is a great asset and an attached secure gated parking is provided for Whitesands guests. There are also polo grounds and golf courses minutes away. Almond Beach Resorts, where day passes can be obtained and the infamous Port St Charles are further north while Holetown is 15 minutes drive to the south and offers several popular restaurants and bars. In addition, Earthworks Pottery Complex is 20 minutes away with an art gallery, craft, Batiks and local delicacies at the café which offers spectacular views from its hillside location.
